Independant Learning

Many young people with additional needs or barriers to learning struggle to engage due to the subject or content, how the lesson is being presented, or the anxiety of beginning a new topic.

Thame SEN support can assist your child to access educational tools that suit them, by encouraging young people to use skills needed for education to study their own interests can often mean that they gain confidence in trying new subjects, ie: standard curriculum programs.

Thame SEN support work with your young person, using their experience and training working with young people with additional needs, to identify how your child learns and working alongside them to create insightful and meaningful pieces of work that include skills in English, Maths, Science, Physical Education, Humanities and Personal Development.

Social and Emotional Skills

Life Skills

From cooking, shopping and nutrition to creating CVs, interview skills and identifying young peoples individual talents and strengths, Thame SEN support can encourage and support young people to hone in on their individuality and find ways that these skills can be used in real world opportunities.

Thame SEN support are conscious that employability, housing, bills and applications can be daunting to anyone, especially people with difficulties with processing and understanding. Tasks that adults have to deal with daily can cause anxiety and refusal which can increase the risk of unemployment, homelessness or partaking in risky behaviours in order to get by.

Thame SEN support aim to reduce those risks by providing real world support to ensure that your child can achieve basic life skills to prepare them for adult life.

Thame SEN support can work specific individualised programmes to address social and emotional concerns. Helping to overcome anxiety, frustration, social interaction difficulties, and Communication of feelings.

These abilities do not come naturally, and feelings and emotions can overwhelm to a point that young people enter a cycle that they can't get out of.

Thame SEN support work with young people to find coping mechanisms and tools to help process emotions in a healthy and productive way.

Children with additional needs can be vulnerable and can often struggle with friendships, peer pressure and a lack of understanding of danger and risk.

Thame SEN support can help young people identify dangers and how to avoid risky behaviours or situations.

Thame SEN support cannot guarantee that the work with young people will protect them in any or every situation, but by providing young people with alternative options and sound knowledge can significantly reduce the risk of harm.
